Week One Recap

The second season of the West Chester Shuffleboard League kicked off in somewhat unusual fashion. Last year's Division One bottom feeder Dave Drinkwater made some off-season adjustments and took control of Division Two by posting a 4-0 day. Drinkwater swept his entire division as well as defeating Division One's current leader Dave Traverso (3-1) by a 15-6 drubbing. Week one action also saw some memorable antics that will NEVER be forgotten. First, there was "THE BUMP HEARD ROUND THE WORLD" in a controversial finale between Division Two foes Chris Bandoian (1-3) and John Ditter (1-3). Bandoian all but had the game locked up, then his fourth and final throw of the round (which could have been gutterballed for the win) turned out to be an errant one. The shot gave Ditter a generous push and the points for the round. Their battle continued when Bandoian pulled some bar league tricks and successfully bumped the table hard enough to knock off Ditter's game winning hanger. Judges of this gentleman's league ruled in favor of Ditter, forever boycotting table bumping from the league. Finally, a congrats is in order to both Tim Frasca and Rob Przekop (2-2) who entered the record books with some triumphs from week one. Frasca (2-2) registered a league record 16 knockoffs in a game during his close 16-14 loss to Traverso. Then, Przekop became the fourth player in league history to score two hangers in a single game. Ironically, Przekop's milestone also happened in a 16-10 loss to Division Two leader Dave Drinkwater.
